A long time ago, to replace a clutch far away from home on a long, long
road trip. We rented an engine lift and did it in a friends driveway.
It went pretty much ok except there was some plate underneath
that got shredded by the flywheel or flywheel housing because I didn't
know enough to remove it. Only a handfull of parts left over at the end. Anyhow, a happy ending as I was able to put in the re-surfaced clutch, get
things working again, and get back to school before classes started.
This was in a '73 95 V4 wagon, but the front end should be identical.
I don't think I took the starter off, but perhaps that was part of
my problem.
Good times, but so very long ago.
