The B model includes a switch on the box which will return the car to standard Points & Condenser ignition if the electronics fail. A 30 second road-side repair without tools. I understand the Petronix units need to be replaced on the road-side with another $130 unit if they fail.
I have purchased two duplicates of every circuit board component inside my unit just in case it ever does fail and needs to be repaired. The Germanium PNP transistors are Old School and not readily available, but still inexpensive at under $6 each.
Unit uses one large can-style capacitor ($15), two of the afore mentioned transistors ($12 total), one small SCR ($10), and seven small disc capacitors ($7 total).
