Saab 95 1972 Bosch rotor 4004 Posted by Landjet [Email] (#16) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Landjet) on Mon, 28 Mar 2022 19:08:06 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have read that there is an RPM cut in the ignition systems, and recall in my flat 6, there was a circular rotor that had a spring operated device that when spun too fast, it would disconnect, taking away the connection in the high tension lead, cutting the spark.
Do the small regular shaped rotors like the Bosch 4004 have something internal that is an RPM limiting device?
Also -- the resistance measurement on the rotor -- is it 1 ohm? I looked at the Manual section on Saabnet, there is a manual for the 95, but when I tried to download, my machine said it had a potential security hazard, that's not one of my favorite things to see.
On a 99 with the impulse generator, there is a 5K resistor rotor, and then when the 900 used the hall sensor type ignition, it was changed to 1K ohms.
I don't have a Bosch 4004 to measure, I found a BWD563, and it is about 1 ohm.
I'm using a high end MSD unit, the head of technical services at MSD said they only use rotors with little or no resistance. So, the Saab 95 rotor IF it is 1 ohm would be a good match to the MSD ignition amplifier.
Thanks in advance for your input. I don't have the Saab 95 manual, Specifications section to read what is said about the ignition system.
