Hi Gary, the Delco single-wire is a reliable replacement option if you are willing to go the trouble of designing the bracketry. Obviously wiring it is no problem. It is important that you have a very good connection from alternator to battery, #8 wire with crimped and soldered terminals should be fine. There is no provision for running the charge indicator light. You therefore would want an ammeter or voltmeter, preferably a voltmeter in this application. The Asian option mentioned is probably a Hitachi or Nippon-Denso, both solid units, but you will have to figure out not only bracketry but electrical connections. My personal solution is to have a spare Bosch unit on hand, rebuilt and tested. When one fails the other goes on and the failed one gets a rewind.
