Plugs and an oil filter should be available at any auto parts store. I'd suggest ditching the points and replacing them with a Pertronix Ignitor, so once you set the timing it'll stay put. If the plug wires are deteriorated, you can make up replacements from NAPA parts; there's a parts-interchange table on the VSAAB website that lists the part numbers. Change the oil, drain the transaxle lube and replace it with Red Line MTL or Amsoil (nothing heavier than 80W, puh-lease), flush out the old brake fluid and replace with new, and check the adjustment of the (manually adjusted) rear brakes, and you've about done all the basic tune-up stuff.

Once you're past that and need SAAB-specific parts, check the links here on TSN. Chip Lamb at West of Sweden Saab can get you just about any driveline or brake part you might need. Vintage Saab Life Support is good for used/salvaged body, chassis and interior parts. Don't overlook a Saab dealer parts department, either; pretty much all the 96 parts have been taken off the computer so show up as "No Longer Available" when they punch in your order, but some of them ARE still actually available if you can get the parts guy to go ahead and put in the order anyway. If the part shows up, you know Saab USA still had some in stock; if it doesn't show up, you know it really wasn't available after all.

If you decide to do a full restoration or need something more obscure, you'll want to get acquainted with the European sources such as Highgate Saabpart (UK), Motorsports Sweden (SV) and Swedish Saab Registry (SV.) They sometimes have new or remanufactured parts that are no longer readily available in the US.

If you want to make your car go fast, get in touch with Motor Sport Services of Jamestown, NY, for their range of custom-made V4 performance parts.

Don't forget to have fun!
