Okay, guys, here's the real Nippon Denso deal.
I took my original Bosch unit in to my local Auto Zone and the guy let me look through a bunch of alternators to find the closest fit.
I found an almost unbelievably perfect match. It is a Nippon Denso alternator part# 100211-14971. This alternator was originally used on Geo Storms and Isuzu Impulses (!) so it shouldn't be too hard to find. It is smaller and lighter than the Bosch original and produces over twice the amps - 75. The only difference I could discover was that the hole in the casting for the bottom mounting bolt is a slightly larger diameter than the stock unit. The casting is exactly the same depth as the original. A simple bolt sleave should make the fit perfect and I'll have all the amps I need. The front position of the pulley looks to be perfect.
I'll post when it's installed and working.
Oh, and it looks really cool, too!
