Adjusting the boost pressure is relatively simple in the 99 but you do have to be careful not to rip the very expesive diaphram.
Increasing the tension on the spring (clockwise) will increase boost pressure, and vice versa. When you are doing this operation make wure you frimlyhold the rest of the waste gate mechansim. ie make sure you only turn the nut, not the whole spindle otherwis you will instantly ripe the silcon diaphram for which can only be fixed by replacement.
Also if you wind the boost too far you will start to hit the overboost cutout. The easy fix for this is to trace the vacum line from the throttle bods/intake manifold to the overboost switch which is (in Australina 99ts) located in the top left hand corner (near the brake booster) of the engine bay. The overboost switch will have two electrical terminals, unplug them and join them together....viola unlimited boost (kind off!!) or at least no hitting the brick wall sensations.
oh yeah boosting turbos is the quickest and easiest power gain you can make...but also the most dangerous in terms of risk of damaging your engine, so beware and be cautious.
Justin
ps it has been two years since I had a 99T so I may have some details wrong...... (clockwise/anticlockwise??)
