As far as I understand the saab 90 has what I know as the H engine. Unfortunately I don't think the 16v engine head will fit on the 'H' block.
The quickest and easiest way to get more out of your existing engine would be to fit injection and a turbo. If you use low boost and fit an intercooler you may even get away without changing the compression/pistons.
But I think by the time you fiddle around with the injection system and figure out all the plumbing, you may as well fit a complete 16v engine instead.
A complete 16v engine should fit in relatively easily as the Saab 90 already has the modified firewall (bulkhead).
