I did one back in 1988... and it got 'killed'. It's taken me till this year to start on a replacement.
It was a 3 door - had shaved handles, shaved front & rear bumpers with the bumper recesses filled, front indicator clusters removed with FIAT side repeaters used in front and the sidelights behind the grille. The trim on the front door windows was chucked and the corners rounded to match the profile of the rear sides adjacent to it. Also tidied up that big weld at the back of the roof gutter. All mods were in welded steel... Used a round hot-rod style 'peep' door mirror.
I still have some pics...
The updated version will be getting the repeaters hidden in the side bonnet shut [several each side and the tail lengthened into two sort-of fins to house upright tail lights which will swivel round into view when the ignition is turned on. Amongst other things...
:)
I'm just starting on a 2 door '69 99 which will be a bit more subtle, like recessing the little early indicators so the chrome edge is level with the body surface, same with mirrors... and splicing in a round petrol filler door from a 3 door. And lots of polished metal.
