THROW THE CARB AWAY!!! As far as you can!!!
Apart from that, switch to electronic ignition. The slightest malfunction of the points, be it the gap or the distributor bearing worn, will not give you a good spark.
Adjust the timing to 6 degrees.
Check the fuel pump. If the diaphragm is worn the fuel will run back to the tank when the engine is stopped, so your first initial start in the morning will simply run the float chamber dry and then you'll have a bad mixture until all the air locks have been removed in the fuel line. Best thing for this is to check the fuel filter before you start the engine in the morning. It should be at least half full. Then once the engine is running there should be no bubbles visible in the filter.
