John, I've owned the EMS for a little over a year now. I sadly got into an accident with it this spring the very day that it was done. The car was just too nice to give up on, so I repaired and restored it. I've had my '72 Saab 99 SSE (Saab Special Edition) for about 8 years. It's actually a pretty rare car. Saab produced them for two years for sale in The States, and not many came with the burl walnut roof. That one came with AC and an automatic. I got rid of the auto and the 1.85, but kept the AC. The hardest part about convertingan earlier 99 to a 2.0 is finding a '73 heator setup. That's the only one that will work properly if you want to retain the stock setup. otherwise you'd have to convert a lot more. I have pictures of both cars posted on The 99 Tips Pages. The EMS has chrome rally mirrors on it in the photo. I have the factory EMS Rally mirrors, but removed them in fear of having them get damaged. I've since upgraded to Vitalloni flag style since then. Anybody looking for a pair of original EMS rally mirrors? They aren't easy to find.
