Sounds like it>>>>> Posted by DougM [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: does this sound like a bad clutch master? '81 99, ROSS, Mon, 3 Dec 2001 19:12:42 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
If it happened all of a sudden, it's probably fluid by-passing the seals in the master. Possibly the inner walls of the cylinder are pitted enough to let fluid pass to a certain point. This might explain why you have some pedal left. Sometimes when the master is going it will have a pedal, then not have a pedal, then have a pedal again and so on.
Also check the linkage where the pedal and master connect. There is the possibility you have alot of play at that connection, but this wouldn't explain a sudden loss of pedal.
One other test is to crimp off the hose(up by the slave) and verify it's not the slave loosing pressure. Don't use vice grips for this because it could damage the hose.
Another thing to look for is fluid loss from the reservoir or leaks from any of the components.
One final thing to do is try bleeding the master. Have someone step on the pedal while you undo the line at the firewall. An 11mm line wrench is recommended.
