I have "Chiltons SAAB 1960-70 Repair and tuneup guide" which shows how
to modify an 850 two-stroke in three stages. Stage I: Modifies carburettor
and fits a GT exhaust system. Stage II: Mill the head to give 9.5:1 CR.
(After milling the piston to head space must be at least .73 mm. Next the
exhaust and transfer ports are ground upwards and the intake ports downward
as the following chart shows.
ENGINE EXHAUST TRANSFER INTAKE
==========================================
850 TO 65 RAISED (MM) RAISED (MM) LOWERED (MM)
STAGE II 47 57 96
----------------------------------------------------
STAGE III 46 56 97
======================================================
" A great increase can be achieved by installing the GT crankshaft.
this crank has larger fuller diameter counterweights which take up more
space in the bottom end and increase the compression."
Have fun! "KsKid"
