Hi Manish, I do not know what is happening on your car (like, why did you
take it to the shop in the first place?) or what your complaint was or what the shop saw (if you care to repost answering these issues as best you can it will be easier to help), but overall I think you need to find some competent advice and I am not sure you have found it. Rotors are kind of passive or static components, they do not "engage" or fail to. Calipers grasp the rotors, they are the active or "engaging" components, they move to grasp the rotors, which do also move in that they rotate, but the rotor position is fixed in relation to the caliper/pad position which squeezes the rotor. From your description I do not think that rotor replacement is indicated, it may be adviseable on other grounds but not based on the (mis?)information you report from the examining shop. Corroded rotors can occur; portions of the rotors that do not contact the pads will typically show some rust which does not alone indicate a problem; corrosion on the parts of the rotors that contact the pads would suggest a problem but not necessarily indicate rotor replacement and much more likely indicate caliper replacement.
On the whole I think you are asking questions that aren't easily answered based on the information you provide, but your questions suggest to me that you need trustworthy professional advice and perhaps the shop you went to is not providing you that.
PS this is the board for 2-digit Saabs, there is another for 3-digit ones.
