What kind of car is it? I assume it is a four cycle, if you already adjusted the valves. You probably did that right. If there was crud on the
plug b4, it probably wasn't firing before. If the other cylinders are clean
it could be a broken ring, or piston with a detonation hole in it. To check
the valves on that cylinder, take the valve cover off, get a feeler guage set to the clearance for that engine, fire it up and slip the feeler guage
between the rocker arm and pushrod. If you can slip the feeler guage in
between, that negates the clearance is too tight, with the feeler guage
in place, you can slip it bak and forth to get a "feel" of the clearance.
A little drag is usually about right, but it shouldnt' slip too easily.
If, on the other hand, you cant get the guage in, especially the exhaust
valve, that valve may not be opening. Luck!
