.. With the narrow tire used in the 70's and the way the 99 loads the tires, 99's are serious snows cars. As good as a VW with skinny tires. In an Ice storm back in '75 or so, it rained after a couple of feet of snow making all the roas skating rinks. The 99 was able to cope with these conditions where everyone else was off raod, including 4WD. I also came home through a blizzard once in the same 99 through snow deeper than the belly of the car... luckily the snow wasn't to wet and heavy and the 99 plowed through it.
there is no substitute for technique in snow driving, but the 99 makes it all much easier.
I have found modern cars tend to be wither to lite for the contact patch they put down, or the tires are just too damn wide to allow for good snow traction. Makes me want to put some 165-14" snows on a new 900 or 9-3 and see what happens..
