this is crossposted, i'm sorry. it is certainly a post that will get answers from this group and the performance board...
well, i went up to oregon to take a gander at the ole 99ems this last weekend. we got the induction system off and basically got down to the short block.
in case y'all don't remember, my dad and i are turbocharging his little b motor and utilizing a garret exhaust manifold (got one!) and haltech e6k ignition/fuel computer with an intercooler and dis. perhaps a water to air intercooler to save space...just depends.
anyhow, i had a few key questions to ask at this juncture:
1. what do i search for to find the electric water pump retrofit to the b motor threads?
2. anyone know if there is a difference in the intake on a d-jet car vs. the intake on the ci cars or is it just a difference in rail/fuel delivery systems? it would seem to me that the dinosaur-jet would have a far more shallow injector boss to accomodate the short nose d-jet injectors vs. the long nose mechanical ones.
3. clutch upgrades available for the '76 manual trans? what about upgrades to the half-shafts? we're going to be aiming for around 350 horse...no kiddin. challenge? you betcha. why not use a 16v? cause fitting a square peg in a round hole isn't as fun as trying to figure out how to turn a wooden round peg into a titanium one...alchemy i suppose.
jason
i also got to tear down a plymouth 6zyl flathead this weekend. talk about old and rusty!!!
