The pic in Ernesto's album looks like a genuine Formula S car, but the one in Mudpuppy's links has a much more homebrew look to it (1" square tubing in a race car chassis?) From the photos of the front and rear suspensions, it appears that both are standard Saab parts (right down to the drum brakes on the rear; steering rods still in place, but presumably locked down at the inboard end to prevent unintentional '4-wheel steering'!) Looks to me as if somebody had a couple of old strokers and a pile of square tubing and decided to build himself a fake Indy car -- nice neat job, and probably a fun toy, but I'd be surprised if it qualified for any vintage or current racing series.
Come to think of it, isn't this a car that we all were discussing a while back when it was being advertised as a genuine former Indy car chassis? I seem to recall it surfaced about the same time as the notorious 'Sonett IV prototype'. The weird engine cover and Mobil flying horses on the nose definitely look familiar...
