Gregg, did the actual knob break off or did something behind the control panel give way?
Years ago on my '72 99 I broke off a knob. To fix it, I flattened a 10d nail, cut the head off, heated it red hot and sank it through the plastic knob into the shaft. I then ground flush the portion of the nail that protruded from the front of the knob. What was left was barely visible. I suppose you could use some bondo & paint if you wanted it to look perfect. The fix worked perfectly. BTW, I disassembled the whole control box to do the repair. You may be able to do it with everything still in place.
Those plastic parts break pretty easily. That's one place I wish Saab had used a little better quality material.
