I have a question:
Occasionally, when driving the 96, I have trouble getting it to change gears (example) After driving along and coming to a traffic light and attempting to shift back into first, I sometimes can't get it to move into first. I then try then to move it into second, third, or fourth, but it doesn't seem to want to travel all of the way into any of the gears. After a couple of attempts at moving the gear lever back and fourth, and a little effort, it goes into gear, and I noticed that the clutch will catch very close to the floor on that initial shift -after finally going into gear/leaving off of the clutch (normally I only need to depress the pedal 1/2 to 3/4 of the way to engage the car into gear. After this initial stumble, the car shifts fine. It acts like I am trying to shift the car without using the clutch. This also happens sometimes when backing out of my garage (trans in reverse), and shifting into first to drive away, I won't immediately go into first, and I might have to try going into second, or reverse, and moving into first again, at which that usually works. This doesn't happen too often - I just noticed yesterday since the weather was nice enough to take the car out for a spin. Does anyone know if this sounds familiar? Clutch adjustment? I don't notice any kind of noises, slipping etc. just occasional difficult moving the stick into gear.
Thanks,
Randy
Background: Bought the car last fall, 61,000 original miles, don't believe the trans or clutch have ever had any work done to them. I changed trans fluid, as per Chips reccommendation with Red Line fluid. The car seems to have been immacuately cared for inside and out.
