V/4 Bottom end ???

Finally getting around to putting my 70 engine togetehr now that I have
a full gasket set from "The Saab site" ! My manual says to torque the rod
bolts to 25 ft/lbs. Should't this be 40 or 50 ft/lbs? I can twist it up to
that with a 3/8 drive ratchet! Also in the Rear Main Seal area: there were
two little wedges that the manual says fit into the groove in the main bearing seal. Should these be pressed down below the surface? Because there
is a rubber seal that goes the rest of the way around the groove that has
tabs that stick out at the bottom. But I am having trouble getting the
rubber seal in the groove without distorting it. Whats the best way to do
this? Finally the pan gasket goes all the way around the pan and the ends
meet at this same place, and has little tabs sticking into the area too.
It's getting so crowded there where the wedge tabs, main bearing seal tab and pan gasket tab meet that I wonder if I shoudlnn't cut the pan gasket
tabs off. V/4 experts;1 HELP!! Thanks!!!
