Hey...I'm hoping ya'll may be able to help me out here...
I run an 86 900t which is silver(117H),I consider this particular shade to be a bit of a "yuppie" color & in the spirit of my "retro" project, plan on repainting EMS silver---(what is the proper name of this color+(if any!)& what is the paint code?...It wasn't clearcoated was it?
I've recently aquired a 79 900 EMS man. rack(the one w/3.5TLL as opposed to 4.2TLL),I'm in the process of trying to get a British co.(TAS motorsport)which fabricates a line of "Qkik Rak" kits(2.5TLL),to make a kit(rack bar & pinion) to suit early 900 man. racks(not looking good though((£££)))-so as an alternative was considering fitting a NASCAR style "steering quickener"(which is pretty pricey in itself)-anyone here have experience with these & what mounting solutions did you utilize?-what modifications to the steering column are involved?
-the rack needs rebuilt,in particular inner tie rods...saab kit #89-48-291,is this the same part# for 99 racks?-and is the kit still available?-Would it be possible to modify/machine to fit later style inner ball joints???...also there is 89-44-746,pinion repair kit,do you know if this # is specific to 900EMS or interchangeable w/ 99?
-and finally!...anyone reproducing "EMS stripes"(swoosh/rally type) for combicoupe body?...these are long gone I imagine from the Saab warehouse shelves!!!...I suppose a signshop could do some up,but was considering a racecar graphics specialist to do 'em & install so I won't screw 'em up!!!
I know Anders Jensen briefly made some for notchbacks, but there wasn't enough interest & he doesn't list them on his website anymore...
Sorry this is so long!-I'm asking the man. rack questions on this board because ya'll are more familar with them & knowledgable about part#'s & resources...please excuse me if I'm outta line,I know this board gets hit up with alotta misplaced queries!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME!!!!
