Top failure-1999 9-3 SE Posted by Michael [Email] (#1365) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Michael) on Mon, 13 Oct 2003 13:57:31 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The top to my 99 9-3 covertible recently failed. I had brought the car to Planet SAAAB over 3 weeks ago, and it appears they(or he...always sounds like the same man) has been scratching their (his) head since then. He tells me the hydraulic fluid (oil) was low, so that was topped off...but still no working top. I phoned him this afternoon and he tells me he has checked sensors and the like, and he believes it is the hydraulic motor that has failed. He also estimates the replacement at $1000.00!
First things first: What do you folks know about Jay and Planet SAAAB? This is my first dealing with him, and while he seems very nice, communication has been non-existent. He had my car for a week, and I had to call him for a status report. 2 more weeks went by, then I called him again this morning. I'm beginning to wonder if my car has just been forgotten.
Next: Any thoughts on this top failure? Insights, personal experiences, guesses? How about a cheap place to get parts...if it does turn out to be the motor?
Thanks for any and all help.
