Yes, you are sitting on an overhaul/replacement engine waiting to happen. But, ultimately, so is every car owner.
If yours made it to 138k, chances are it has some good life left in it. The big problem with these engines was spontaneous, early failure. By virtue of the fact it's no longer a baby, it'll probably be alright for a while. I would certainly not take it for granted - be religious about coolant and oil changes and don't even tempt fate with extending the timing belt service past 30k. There are plenty of folks with high-mileage V6 engines, so who knows, maybe you'll be a lucky one!
Ben at Saab Replay has done a B235R transplant into an SEV6, so yeah, it can be done. If/when your motor grenades, go talk to him. In the interim, enjoy driving the only V6 Saab ever produced with a 5-speed option! :) The V6s are nice to drive.
