NESA Meeting 19 Jun 2004 Minutes
The primary topic of discussion was that of The New England SAAB Association's SAAB Owners Gathering (SOG) coming up the weekend of July 16th.
SPONSORS:
-Ashli, John and I have contacted many companies of which a few (so far) have committed to supporting SOG.
Paul Dolmetsch Motors, in Bennington VT, is going to supply several raffle items.
Hemmings Motor News, in Bennington VT, is helping with basic car show supplies.
-Another list of potential sponsors was discussed, of them the following will companies will be contacted:
Long Trail Brewery
Ben & Jerry's
SAAB of Milford CT
SAAB of Greenwich CT
SAAB of Framingham MA
SAAB of White River JCT VT
-Most of the companies we have contacted only support events on a national level. We are adjusting our approach to gain support from regional companies and distributors.
-If anyone has other suggestions please email us or post a reply here. Thank you.
T-SHIRTS:
-John is handling the t-shirts design and printing. The design and price are still TBD but he's making very good progress. The logo will incorporate a classic 900 as that is the theme of this years SOG.
-He will not order any shirts until we have a greater commitment then will order 10-15 extra for people who decide they want them after all.
GUEST SPEAKER:
-We have asked someone to be a speaker but don't have a firm yes as of Midnight on 18 Jun 2004.
-I will try to twist his arm a bit more.
-We will recommend that he pick some funny, interesting and exciting stories on which to focus his presentation.
-We need to have the capability to play short film clips from a laptop to either a TV or to a large screen.
PARKING:
-Will be similar to SOG's in the past. There will NOT be valet parking at the hotel for us in case you were concerned about someone driving your vehicle.
NOMINATIONS FOR OFFICERS:
-Can be made anytime up to and including SOG. We will vote at SOG and all good standing members will be allowed to vote. We discussed membership payment being accepted at the door for those non-members who want to vote.
-We will have a list of open positions in the coming month.
AWARDS:
-Ashli and I will handle the people's choice awards this year.
-They will be representative of a classic 900 with the award text either laser engraved or printed on them.
-The categories will likely follow last years SOG.
-Vote counting was discussed...not like Florida. Last year there was a bit of confusion with the categories. This year if you vote for a car out side of its listed category the vote will not be counted.
For example, if I entered my SPG in the Modified class but you voted for it in the SPG class, your vote will not be counted.
-Awards will be given to 1st and 2nd place winners in each category.
THE RUN (SCENIC DRIVE):
-Was not discussed but I am planning it. The entire route will be planned by the end of next weekend and directions will be handed out at the drivers meeting.
-Please bring Family Radio Service (FRS) radios if you plan to attend the drive. They are vital for communication. You may be able to borrow one if you don't have one but I wouldn't count on it.
