Could be an issue with the balance shaft chains similar to the issues the 9-3SS has with the same engine.
I once had a 9-3SS customer bring a car in for what he claimed was a loud exhaust, but it was really the balance shaft chain guide broken and the chains out of time, causing a drone in the cabin and vibration throughout the rev range.
That could be a very left field diagnosis, but just a thought. Not many techs know or ever will know your car as well as previous SAABs.
