I noticed the same problem a short while back. The sludge was on the tip of the dipstick, down deep where the oil level should be. So it was coolant in the oil, NOT just condensation (which would be up toward the cap of the stick).

I got a torque wrench from Sears, and did the head bolt re-torquing, following the TSB from townsend. I also found black sludge in my valve cover, which I have been fighting ever since (another story). Anyway, the re-torquing did NOT work, unfortunately. I have since added bar's leak and changed the oil twice (each time after noticing a white coolant buildup on the stick). I am assuming that even a fairly small amount of coolant in the oil would really compromise the viscosity, etc. and it should be changed pronto. I also did an "engine flush" with the oil change, and, wow, did a lot of gunk come out! I am deliberating over trying the Auto-Rx 3 oil change system. Maybe trace coolant leaks have been the original cause of a lot of the bigger black sludge problems in (at least this one) the 2.3's. Good luck.
