As far as a vibration damping material goes, it might do a good job. But you would have to apply the brakes to settle things before the sealant set up. So what is done is done, read on and give it a try.
Did you grease the backing plate edges and the caliper slots to act as a rust preventative?
You did not change the rotors, so until the pads are bedded into the rotors I would not make a judgement call. The rotor surface is not flat and the swept surface will also be conical. So the pad will take a while to bed into that.
Don't worry about the rotor surface appearance. As long as the pads are working the surface, things will be find. If a caliper is siezed, you can see rust, then there is a real problem.
