95 900 SET w/ 90k
I wanted to switch to synthetic oil, but first wanted to solve my valve cover leak.
First, took of DI, and all bolts holding down the valve cover, but the cover would not budge. Here's how to get it off:

1. Wack it with a mallet to loosen things up a little.
2. Slide a 1" putty knife into the crack in the front non-timing chain corner of the engine.
3. Use the mallet to tap the putty knife, and work it down the front edge of the engine.
4. When you are about 2/3's of the way toward the timing chain side, pull up on the putty knife while wacking on the non-timing chain edge with the mallet.
5. Success. All the other crowbar / screwdriver ideas on this site don't work, and will probably scratch up the mating surface. (It took me overnight to think this up. If this doesn't work for you, try taking a nap...)

After this ordeal, I retorqued the head bolts (not much give, some none at all), cleaned out the soot from the timing chain end, but everything looked pretty healthy. Cleaned off the old gasket and surfaces, used black RTV along with new gasket. Got a new PCV gasket and thingy.

Ended up going the cheap route, with RotellaT and oversized SuperTech filter. No flush, since everything looked good. Will switch over to Mobil1 in about a month. I will have pictures soon. Will post success / failure info as they happen...
