During a recent trip to the tire shop to get my 136k 94 SE aligned, the front end guy indicated my struts/mounts were shot and my stanchion arm bushing (to frame) was wallered out as well. Bottom line...not worth aligning until this is fixed. I suspect he is on the money with his diagnosis as the car has become a bit spooky to drive the last couple of months.

Now, I am not going to keep this thing too much longer (another 15-20k is enough) and already have the stanchion arm bushings from a planned project that I never got around to. I want to keep my costs down.

I can get Scan Tech mounts and bearings for both sides for about a 100.00, or same price as the much maligned KYB mounts/bearings. Anyone know about the quality of these Scan Tech mounts? KYB struts are tempting at around 85 bucks a pair, or I could spend another 125.00 and get Boges, but the KYB's should last at least 25k, shouldn't they? For the 200.00 he will charge for install of all this stuff, I could get things fixed up for around 400.00 total for parts and labor.

If I wanted to drive it another 5 years, I would go for the post 95-1/2 mod kit for 430.00 (which replaces the stanchion arm, control arm, and sway bar), and Konis (another 200.00). But I surely woudn't get my money out of that arrangement. No one would dare buy the car to drive as it is now, the steering is scary enough that I will leave it parked and drive my 9-3 until I make my decision and get my parts installed.
