I too got tired it rusting. So I made my own license plate holder out of a 3/8" think piece of Clear Lexan. I cut it to size on a band saw. Then drilled the holes. I threaded the four holes that mount the plate to it. I bought Stainless Screws (and plastic spacers) to attach the Lexan to the bumper. Then used vinyl screws to attach the license plate & plastic protecting cover. No more rust. The assembly is strong and holds up very well. Total Cost: $10 Canadian. Maybe I'll post some picture when I get a digital camera.
Lexan polycarbonate is one of the most widely known "plastics". Lexan sheet with its unique combination of high impact strength, flame retardancy, and thermoformability makes it ideally suited for security applications. No other plastic can match Lexan's combination of light transmittance (clarity), and the ability to withstand extreme impact.
