Like the others have said, your changer is an aftermarket unit, but there's nothing wrong with that. Saab used two changers during the life of the 900, the original one, and a "slimline" changer, which was an OEM version of the Clarion 605. Both were black colored, and both had lousy shock protection. The later Clarion changers (which are the silver ones) have much better shock protection than the older Saab units, and the latest one, the 625, can even play CD-RWs. They plug right into the factory wiring, so no modifications were done to your car. Clarion changes magazine designs each time a new changer comes out. I'm pretty sure the two Saab models even used different magazines.
