I believe the MTL is red in color, similar to ATF in appearance but smells different. Sould be obviously different than any motor oil which is golden, brown or black depending on age.
Dont know what oil you are using in your motor, but with the Mobil 1 10w30 in my 94 SE, it had horrendous rear seal leaks. I changed over to Mobil 1 0-40 as I use in my 00 9-3 SE and that leak virtually STOPPED in a week or so, no more than a drop a night now vs. the puddle left by the 10w30. If you are using synthetic, you may want to try this. Oddly, my gas mileage also improved almost 10% by using the 0w40. Same price.
