Odd CEL flashing after service

Hi all,
I just got my 96 NG900 2.0i serviced and it all seems fine except that it was a little sluggish starting. So I started playing around in the car and noticed something odd.
First off, since I've owned it, whenever I turn the ignition on the CEL comes on (along with the Check Gearbox light, which goes out after 1 second, as expected). The CEL remains lit though, and I get a single bing-bong after about 5 seconds, but no other indication other than the warning triangle remains lit. I've always thought this was a warning not to leave the ignition on without starting the car. Or maybe that the ECU is wandering why the oil pressure hasn't come up etc etc.
Anyway, while I was playing around, I pressed the accellerator to the floor a few times, and the CEL went out. Then it started to cycle through some flashes. One long one, one short, then two short. Repeat.
I've searched on the forum for flashing CEL codes, as I guessed it might be a fault code, but there don't seem to be enough "digits" spelled out.
The car is running perfectly, I get no warnings of any kind when the engine starts or runs, and it may be nothing at all, but now I've seen it I can't ignore it.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
Thanks
Jonathan
