Welcome to the club. It gets worse over time, but how fast is an open question. I replaced my switch this weekend; see my post a few items down. (One person mentioned that he rebuilt the switch but I didn't know it was feasible nor do I have a garage or time to attempt that.)
I would wait to fix it until it becomes frequent (daily?) or a safety problem since you have to pull over to restart the engine and reset the tranny computer. A quick "fix" is to turn the key on but engine off and then move the gear selector from P or R to 1 and back again about 20-30 times. This seems to reset the grease in the switch and do some good for a while. I did this many times but eventually it just got hopeless.
