R134a recharge gauge and refrigerant blend

Time to recharge the A/C in my '94 900. System works fine, a little low but hasn't been recharged in years. I have read lots of posts and am comfortable with all mechanical details, but I have two questions:
1) Should I use plain old R134a refrigerant, or should I buy one of the multitude of R134a blends out there (e.g., R134a with ester oil, R134a with leak stopper, o-ring conditioner, etc.). So many choices!
2) If I want to measure low-side pressure in the 32-33psi range as Dean suggests, is one of these cheesy $10 gauges adequate? Or should I shell out more for a manifold gauge set? The only inexpensive gauges I found cover a huge range (0-150psi or so) and have a notice on the package that says accurate within +/- 10psi. What do others use?
Thanks,
Derek / 1994 900 S V6 140,800mi / glad spring is back at least in N.C.!
