Bad channel in amp

Sorry this might be a dumb question but I bought JL's all the way around for my 95 900SE. When the shop was putting in the fronts, the guy came out to tell me that the one channel was bad in the amp.(drivers door)
He recommended that I try finding a used Saab amp or else I would have to probably get a whole new deck. I don't want to lose the whole computer thingie. Also mentioned that my changer probably wouldn't work then either. Any truth to this? I was mostly listening but had all my school books out on the showroom floor cramming for a test I had today. ANy help appreciated. I've done a search but didn't come up with much.
