Do not force the wiper motor by the wiper arm. This is thought to strip the plastic gears.

Fuse #10 in the engine fuse box is for the headlamp wipers. If you pull that, the wiper motors will still go on with the washer pump. Then the wipers will be left in random positions as there will be no power for it to return to its 'home' postion.

So better to dison the headlamp wiper motors. If you unplug them, then the connectors will be open to the elements and will get damaged. So it might be best to disonnect the ground leads for each motor and tape and secure them if you can identify where those go. The ground goes through the connectors with the two sources of power.

Check the connectors, perhaps the cause of the fault is there and you can fix it up. Check the motor red wires on pin #3 of the connector. That wire has switched power all of the time via fuse #10 in the engine fuse box. And that gets switched power thru the ignition switch relay.

If you do not see constant power on the motor connector pin #3, with ignition on, red to the motor, yellow harness side, then that would cause the problems that you have. An intermittant ground on the motor ground wire would also create the problem.

Pin #2, yellow to the motor and green/white harness side, is power to the motor that comes on with the washer pump via the wiper stock switch and also the ICE module. Once the motor is powered past its 'home' position, it will keep running via power on pin 3 until its 'home' switch opens. The system is not perfect. The wiper can be left in an awkward postion when the washer pump it briefly pulsed. That is 'normal'. But sounds like you have a problem with the ground, power on pin 3 or a defect in the 'home' switch internal to the wiper motor assembly.

Check wires for damage. Mice love to eat the tape that wraps the wires and the will eat the insulation off of the wires as well. Not much nutrition, but they chew it anyways. If you ever find such damage, you need to check the engine air filter box to see if the air filter has been chewed. Thats a lovely nest box. K&N filters are safe as the mice cannot get through the steel wire mesh. You might see a bright spot or two on the steel mesh where they testing it. Also check the cabin air filter if you have mice damage.

I don't know if you can get into the wiper motor assy to access and clean/fix the 'home' switch. When the motor is 'out of home' that switch is closed. With the harness connector removed, the resistance from pin 3 to pin 1 should show the resistance of the motor. You could use the other motor for a reference resistance. If an open circuit, there is a problem with the motor or the 'home' switch which should be closed.

You can check the ground on the harness side from harness pin 1, black, to the battery negative connector. The resistance should be a fraction of an ohm.

In-cabin fuse box fuses #8&31 are also part of the vehicle wash/wipe system.
