With the amount of snow falls you mentioned I wouldn't consider running an all-season tire on a Saab at all. I've always had 2 sets of rims/tires on all my Saabs with specific focus on the winter rubber. Yes, I buy the best winter tire (price is a secondary concern) and good summer performance tire. This season for example, I bought 4 michelin arctic alpins (on steels) and 4 hankook performance tires (cheap but I am optimistic) for my alloys. I'll let you all know how the hankook fair shortly. Note that with such a setup, your winter set will last you 5+ years and install lots of confidence in your driving.
