The parts are pretty cheap, about US$45 each from Saabsite or eEuroparts. You can replace the bearings only without having to replace the entire strut mount assembly.

The bearings are pressed into the strut assembly housings, which are a bit of a pig to get out of the car. Dean has posted a very comprehensive procedure for strut replacement on this board which details removing the strut assemblies.

While you don't have to strip down the strut assemblies to press out the wheel bearing, it might be a good time to check all the component, as you will have gone to a lot of effort to get them out. Strut mounts, thrust bearings, and the struts themselves all warrant a lookover in this age of car.

There are 2 circlips (one each side of the bearing) that need to be removed before pressing out the bearing. As you are replacing them, you can afford to get a little brutal. However, my 5T shop press just wasn't up to the job of pressing these out. The awkward shape of the strut assembly also makes it difficult to work without a jig. In the end, I paid a local machine shop to press out the old bearings. With a bit of grease, I was able to easily press in the new bearings using my own press. Use a large diameter socket or make an adaptor out of suitable diameter pipe to make sure you apply the force to the outer race of the bearing while pressing in to avoid damage.

All-in-all, a mechanically simple job, but very time consuming. I did it at home over a couple of weekends. Wouldn't like to hazard a guess at shop labour time.
