Strange a/c pressures on NG900

Hi,
I am recharging the a/c on my '95 900SET after swapping out the compressor. I got the Interdynammics kit from Kragen with the low side coupler and push on pressure guage, cans of 134 etc. I used an airbrush compressor with the hoses swapped to pull a vacuum (not very effective) and started charging with the clutch relay jumpered to run the compressor on demand.
Per the posts here, I was looking for 25-30 psi on the low side and 200-250 high (but I can't hook up to that side to check). After going through 2 cans of 340gms and into the third, I am seeing about 120psi cold (compressor NOT running) and with the compresssor running, I am seeing NEGATIVE pressure. I saw that early on in the process, but I thought that maybe the compressor sets up a differential of x-psi, so that until the high side got high enough, the low would not get up to 25-30. But it actually seems to be getting lower as I add more 134 - the guage is not that precise so maybe not, but it is not getting into the positive side.
Does this trigger any thoughts, any deja vues anyone ? The heats comin' and would would greatly appreciate any feedback on this. Thanks !
Nand
