Things in the pix look good. I assume that you are wondering about the color of the two cams for the intake and exhaust nearest to the chains. I don't think that this is heat related, but I don't have an explaination either.
You put sealant on the VC? This should not be required. But an old VC rubber gasket might not seal well re-used. I expect that most of the time folks get another rubber gasket. When a new rubber gasket is used, it might be neccessary to retorque later as it will settle and the VC bolts can then be loose. This is seen with the VCs as they come from the factory... unless the factory can't torque these right.
I am glad that the MBC+A is working well for you.
When the APR is added and adjusted, the pressure overshoots go away. Then you can again increase the MBC to use the headroom that was lost to fuel cut avoidance.
The Viggen IC will be a great improvement. And other intake/exhaust restriction reductions will all by synergistic with the MBC+A... remove TCDS, rework TBTC, K&N 33-2663 in the air box, 3" air box duct mod.
For others... the TB tap, Throttle Body tap, is a short hose to replace the one that connects the IAC inlet to the TB. It has a 1/4" or so hose barb bonded into it. This allows the MBC to regulate the pressure at that location, which is just above the throttle plate. A MBC that connects to the turbo compressor hose barb will control pressure there. This causes boost pressure at the TB to droop at high flows because of pressure drops across the IC etc. Connecting the MBC at the TB would normaly make pressure overshoots much worse by agrevating the reponse delay of the ball-spring tupe MBCs. The anticipator solve this problem and allows the MBC to be connected at the TB. This provided solid boost pressure control at higher CFMs where a MBC alone will not.
A MBC provides very stong increases in responsiveness and power. The MBC+A solution eliminates the typical boost pressure droop, pressure overshoots and fuel cut problems. Boost Perfected(tm).
If I only still had a T5....
