Sounds to me like you should get to a reliable shop in a big hurry and get this thing sorted out.
You don't mention how many miles are on the car and if any of the suspension pieces have been replaced.
My guess would be that you just have a bunch of worn out stuff. If the car has a lot of miles on the original suspension bushings it's probably time for some replacement.
There is not a whole lot that can go wrong in the steering rack that you wouldn't notice by an oil leak, bad noises or a lot of slop in the steering wheel.
Just get the car to a good Saab indy shop and get it sorted out before it becomes dangerous.
I've never heard of taking a car to a body shop for suspension work. I've never been to a body shop that seemed very strong on the mechanic stuff.
