OK, that makes sense, because they told me the same thing (it was the throwout sleeve, not a boot, I had some kind of CV joint boot thing in mind). Unfortunately, when the clutch was done, I spent about a month trying to convince them that I actually used to have a working transmission before they did the clutch... Turns out they forgot to insert some pin in the linkage mechanism, causing the tranny to occasionally miss 2nd and reverse. Four (free :-)) service visits later they finally realized what the problem was. They were about to rebuild the gear box :-)
Of course, they could have done a rear main seal while they were at it last week (I asked halfway when they found out what was leaking) and they said it was too late, they had half put it back together.....
