Can't remove reducer valve piston, help please!

I am trying to check the valve for scoring and trying to find the source of the low oil pressure light. i have removed the bolt and spring but cannot find a way to remove the piston. has anyone done this before or have and suggestions to get it out? i have tried a magnet, but this did not work.
