That's a lot of work and money on a guess though. Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: 1995 900se fuel pump, john, Tue, 13 Apr 2004 14:24:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
It doesn't really sound like a fuel pump to me.
With cutting out, do you mean that it stumbles/hesitate but keeps running or does it stall out so that she has to roll to the side of the road and wait for awhile before it starts up again?
I wish you had a friendly Saab shop nearby where they could hook a lab scope up to the fuel pump and study the amperage draw of the pump. That way you would know if the pump is on it's way or not.
If it is starting to go bad, I would absolutly go with a new one since it's quite a bit of work to drop the fuel tank to access the pump.
You need to be able to lift the car up in the air a bit to be able to slide the tank down and out from the frame work.
If it gasolin left in the tank it will pour out.
Here is a screen shot of a bad and good fuel pump. The left pic is showing some burned spots on the commutator where the amperage drops down to zero.
If the amp test looks similar to the right pic on your car, I wouldn't replace the pump.
