Without trying to sound rude, a 2.0 liter engine is not considered 'small'. A lot of Japanese cars with engine capacities of 1.2 to 1.5 liters are normal here, without A/C problems.
I've had jerkiness problems with the A/C on in traffic, seems to have gone away since I changed my MAP sensor.
Since you've got the n/a engine, it would probably be a good idea to check those vac hoses again, then clean the IAC valve and the TB. Cleaning the IAC was a temporary fix for me, the jerkiness always came back (until now).

It's 38 deg C (100 deg F) out there today, I won't want to be out in that traffic without my A/C.
