The Haynes manual for the NG900 is illustrated with a right hand drive (UK) car (at least mine is), so it's probably best not to reference drivers side and passenger side.
All Haynes references to left and right assume you are looking forward towards the front of the car (i.e. as if you were sitting inside and driving).
Sounds like you started from the correct side. The brake hydraulic circuits on the NG900 are split diagnonally, so the front brakes are on different hydraulic circuits. The fact that the brakes feel OK is the best evidence that you successfully got all the air out of the system.
