1995 900S Convertible 2.3L 112K miles.
Believe it or not...damage to the body in the rear is not that bad. Trunk still opened but I could not get it latched again. Right rear quarter panel was buckled over the right rear wheel but came nowhere close to impeding the movement of the wheel. Rear bumper is ripped up pretty good.
But the car sputtered (like it was out of gas) after the collision and then died. Opening the hood, I saw that the distributor cap is smashed by the battery. I think it was the battery breaking out of its case/confines from the impact and breaking the distributor cap. Battery exterior was not broke or penetrated. No fluids (oil, ATF, coolant, etc) loss at all.
My questions are:
1) Im worried about the convertible top mechanisms being damaged during the rear collision. Anyone else been rear ended and have problems with the convertible top after that?
2) Any other possible damage to the mechanis/motor you think I shouold be worried about. I didnt get a real good look at the distributor before it was towed away (talking to the police, insurance company, etc in the process) so I cant be sure if it was just the cap or if it really got the distributor good.
man...im so worried about them totalling my Saab out :((( It is/was in such pristine condition. *sigh*
