The oil was changed in late november at 83k miles using Castrol GTX 10W-30 and just again in late april at 87k miles using Castrol GTX 5W-30 per mechanic's recommendation.
The Coolant light came on twice during that period, at which point coolant was added, but no noticable coolant was in the oil or vice versa. I din't notice any leak spots from the cooling system components either.
My mechanic's guess was that maybe too much gas in the mixture making the catalytic converter run hot, thus heating the oil pan and the oil within it and eventually creating low oil pressure. He thought that going to the 5W might help against this.
Any ideas?
